Amind Attends the NDIS Expo

Yesterday, we attended the NDIS Expo in Ipswich.

About the NDIS

NDIS logo

The NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) is a government scheme to support people with disabilities and their carers and families. It also assists people with disabilities in gaining the skills they need to participate in the community and find employment. It helps connect them to a range of services and supports like doctors, teachers, housing, the justice system, and aged care.

It helps them access community services and supports like charities, libraries, community groups, and sports clubs.

The NDIS helps people with disabilities maintain informal support arrangements like that gained from family and friends. It helps get them the right funding for supports that are necessary for them to live an ordinary life and maintain their goals.

The NDIS Expo

The Expo was held at the North Ipswich Reserve, The Terrace, North Ipswich. It was part of the official launch of the NDIS. The NDIS will fund up to 7,000 eligible participants as of the 1st of July this year.

The participants will be able to make their own choices about which service providers they utilise. Amind Pty Ltd will be one of the available providers of wheelchair conversions under the NDIS, and hopefully be able to service hundreds of clients, assisting them to reach their wheelchair-accessible needs by modifying their own private vehicles. Amind will continue to provide quality vehicle modification services to the members of the community who are in need.

Another benefit of Ipswich-based clients choosing Amind is that we are physically the closest provider of wheelchair accessible services to the region.

The Minister for Disability, the Honourable Coralee O’Rourke opened the expo, and there are already 40 participants registered with the scheme.

The expo featured a range of NDIS providers and gave potential clients a look at what they have to offer. It also gave attendees the opportunity to learn how the NDIS works, and how to prepare for it.

Here at Amind, we are proud to be an NDIS approved workshop, and we look forward to helping mobility-impaired people gain the freedom and ease of movement they deserve.
